KILLINGTON MOUNTAIN RESORT
http://www.killington.com/winter/index.html
Killington Resort stretches across six mountains and features 140 diverse trails served by 22 lifts. Killington's elevation advantage, combined with the world’s most extensive 600-acre snowmaking system and 250 inches of annual snowfall, means you’ll enjoy the best ski and snowboard conditions every day of the season!
Killington is known for its diversity of terrain, providing skiers and riders of all ability levels a choice of wide-open groomed cruisers, narrow classic New England runs, moguls, steeps and trees. Killington offers multiple terrain features for snowboarders and freeskiers, including five terrain parks and a 500-foot long Superpipe.
The Killington Region has many other activities including cross-country skiing, rock climbing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dog sledding, spas, shopping, fine dining and nightlife.
Killington's 17-vehicle Grooming Fleet grooms 50-80% of open terrain on a nightly basis. We also have numerous trails that are left untouched for the mogul enthusiasts, including Outer Limits - the steepest, longest mogul slope in the East!
PICO PEAK MOUNTAIN RESORT
http://www.picomountain.com/site/index.html
One of Pico's most enjoyable attributes is that it is undeniably a big mountain, but with a small ski area's personal touch. There are mogul trails, glades and groomed steeps, but all the trails lead back to the same base area.
The Pike, Pico's longest trail, begins at the summit and terminates right outside the base lodge. From the summit, skiers and riders can try 49er or the winding and narrow black diamonds Summit Glades, Upper KA, and Sunset 71. If you’re up to it, take a shot at the mountain's steepest, most difficult trail, Giant Killer – it’s called that for a reason. Pico also has two tree skiing areas - Birch Woods and Doozie.
Racers often train on B-Slope, which descends in a wide arc from the top of Little Pico. Bumps usually form on the black diamond A-Slope, also on Little Pico Mountain.
First-time skiers and snowboarders can board an easy-to-use chairlift, new rope tow and two gentle learning trails at the Bonanza area. Cruisers can enjoy run after run on the groomed green circle and blue square trails off the Golden Express Quad. Powder hounds will delight in fresh tracks days after a snowstorm if they can find their way into the Birch or Summit Glades.
Pico Mountain offers the friendly intimacy of classic Vermont skiing with uncrowded slopes, long runs and diverse terrain, plus a central base village and lodge complete with a roaring fire in a stone fireplace. However, Pico offers big-time skiing and snowboarding with a 1,967-foot vertical and 50 trails, seven lifts (including two high-speed quads), timed racing arenas, a terrain park and 75% snowmaking coverage.
SUGARBUSH MOUNTAIN RESORT
A Message from Win Smith, Owner
When we purchased Sugarbush in 2001 from the American Ski Corporation, we knew that we were not just buying a resort, we were buying a precious legend. Damon and Sara Gadd started something special in 1958, and it is our goal to keep this legend alive and well.
Sugarbush does not stand alone. It is part of a very special place – The Mad River Valley. I first came here in college in the winter of 1969-1970 and for the past twenty years my family has loved nothing better than coming to the Valley, skiing the slopes of Sugarbush and enjoying the many other wonderful things to do here during all four seasons.
Now as an owner, I feel a special obligation to preserve the tradition we inherited, to preserve the beauty of our natural environment, to respect the authenticity of the Valley’s historical villages and yet give our guests the modern conveniences that they expect.
We know that we have some of the best skiing and riding terrain anywhere, and we are committed to providing the right balance between the steep and the deep natural terrain and beautifully groomed corduroy trails. We are committed to constructing more new and more convenient lodging on the mountain that fits with the aesthetics of what we have inherited from our predecessors.
Most importantly, we are committed to placing our guest’s interest first and making sure that we are a place where all of our guests feel appreciated at all times.
Sugarbush is already a great resort, but we are committed to making it better.
